Follow the story as we establish a new camp in Africa’s Lost Eden

At the Southern end of Africa’s Great Rift Valley lies Gorongosa National Park, an area of unparalleled natural diversity. In its hey day in the 60s and 70s this park was home to the greatest population of lion on the African continent, and the destination of choice for safari enthusiasts including such legends as John Wayne, Ava Gardner and astronauts, James Lovell and Stu Roosa.

Today, a safari to Gorongosa will show you what happens when nature is given a chance to rebound. In just a few years, Gorongosa is well on its way to becoming, once again, “the place where Noah left his Ark”. Explore the park on foot, by vehicle or by boat and meet the people behind this inspiring story; ecologists, researchers and scientists. This is more than just a traditional safari, it is the chance to be part of something bigger, sustainable tourism in action. Asilia Africa is honoured to be a part of it by establishing a new camp in Gorongosa and inviting you to be part of the revival.

I was so disappointed to see Jos and Rob’s “Explore Gorongosa” has closed, but very glad to see a new venture arriving. I wish you all the best and remember “Mozambique is not for sprinters!”

    • Thank you Mike, we cannot agree more! We are very excited about the developments in the park. And very pleased Rob & Jos joined our team to help setting up the new camp; we’re confident their great expertise & enthusiasm for Gorongosa will contribute creating a bright future for Kubatana Camp & Gorongosa!
